ProofMe Data Retention Policy
This page describes data lifecycle behavior evidenced in the Main repository and the conditional Cloud path. It does not promise a quota or fixed duration that has not been formally published.
On-device data
Video, audio, preview images, and evidence history created in the Local-first release stay on the device until the user deletes them, uninstalls the app, or clears app data. Uninstalling or clearing data can make those files unrecoverable by ProofMe.
Conditional Cloud data
If a user enables Cloud and the release/account entitlement supports it, video, preview images, evidence metadata, account data, and necessary Workspace/team data may be stored in Supabase/Postgres and Cloudflare R2. Access and lifecycle depend on the enabled plan, retention policy, system release, and Store entitlement. This page does not publish a fixed duration or quota, and Cloud is not assumed to be active for every user.
When a Subscription is cancelled or expires, Cloud access may stop according to the Store status and remaining paid period. Stopping new backups, expiry, or cancellation does not mean data is deleted immediately. Keep important copies and contact us when you need help.
Evidence that must be preserved
The system can prevent deletion when a clip has an Evidence Hold (for example, a Problem Case, user lock, or investigation), an open Problem Case, an upload in progress, an active Share Link, or a future retention_expires_at policy value. Once the case is closed or a permitted hold is released, normal deletion rules can apply. Share links are bearer links; revoke them when continued access is no longer wanted.
Service records
Account, usage, analytics, billing, audit, and security records may be retained as needed to provide the service, secure it, prevent fraud, maintain accounting records, comply with law, or handle disputes. No fixed period is promised here.
Deletion and exceptions
Users can delete clips on the device, and account holders can delete an account from Account & Security. Cloud account deletion removes Cloud data owned by the account and accessible video/preview objects, but it does not remove local files. Deletion may be refused or delayed when an active Hold/Problem Case exists or when law, security, an investigation, fraud prevention, or a dispute requires retention.
Cancel a Google Play or Apple subscription separately: deleting a ProofMe account does not automatically cancel a Store subscription.
External deletion requests can be sent to [email protected]. The current canonical source says those requests are processed within 30 days, subject to the exceptions above.
